Imagine powerful Words, an empowering moment, and sustaining encouragement!  You recall the powerful up building words words of a coach, grandparent, a mentor, or a faithful friend.  They were a Blessing to you!  Imagine sharing powerful Blessings with your loved ones.  Imagine be showered with God's Word individually applied to You!  If that sounds like a new  spiritual practice you would be interested in, keep reading.

"Our Father..." that is how the Lord's Prayer begins.   Jesus expresses His deep relationship by using the Aramiac, "Abba, Father..." or "Daddy, Daddy" (Mark 14:36).  We can celebrate the blessings of God as He loves, cares, and leads us. An early follower of Jesus, the apostle Paul,  affirmed this too by calling out to Abba, Father (Romans 8:15, Galatians 4:6) and encouraging the combination of physical touch and the power of God's Word (James 5:14).   Our Father desires to confer blessing on you, His son/daughter! Today, He uses His Word and His followers to do this with one another.

Many of those who attended church as children remember these words, "... May the Lord look upon you and give you peace." (Numbers 6:24-25)  This is God conferring blessing.

In her book, Praying the Scriptures for your Children, Jodie Berndt provides many great ideas and prayers that are not only for parents and children, but all followers of Jesus.

You will see many blessings and prayers, straight from the Scriptures.  The idea is to pray them by inserting the name of a loved one.  I would even encourage you on occasion to set aside a time of quiet, maybe during your read-pray-sing time , light a candle to set apart the moment.  Lay both hands on your loved ones head and pray a blessing over them out loud.  Let us know how it goes!
